John K. Flock is a California native, having grown up in the San Fernando Valley. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from California State University at Northridge (B.A., 1993) while on the Dean's List. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law (J.D., 1998) and was selected for publication while a member of The Law Journal.
While in law school, Mr. Flock spent a year working as a clerk in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. In doing so, he handled preliminary hearings relating to felony filings for drug-related charges. He also worked as a senior law clerk for the largest insurance defense firm in the San Fernando Valley. Finally, he was a judicial law clerk in the Los Angeles Superior Court for the Honorable Judge Leon Kaplan.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Flock was a litigation associate at several AV-rated law firms, including one of the twenty-five largest firms in the city of Los Angeles. In this capacity, he was entirely responsible for defending lawsuits against insureds and public entities. Frequently, these cases involved complex issues and presented significant exposure. While doing so, he was an active litigator in both State and Federal courts. Throughout this period, he concentrated on developing his expertise in the handling of premises liability, security guard, police officer, public entity, and construction defect litigation.
As a result of the foregoing, Mr. Flock comes to Bradley & Gmelich as an experienced litigator who takes an aggressive posture in the handling of his cases. His specialty is utilizing procedural and substantive motions to obtain dismissals of meritless lawsuits. Mr. Flock is licensed to practice before all courts in the State of California and before the United States District Courts in the Central District of California. He is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.
